Crowne Pointe Shores isn’t just another place to build a home; it’s a living legacy. Nearly 100 years ago, Mary Jane Nuyen purchased this property from the Clark and Munn families, establishing a deep connection that has spanned generations. This land has been the backdrop of countless cherished memories, from the days when families rode the train from Chicago to enjoy the nearby amusement park on Indian Lake to the many summers spent by the water.
The Nuyen family has a rich history here. A unique cottage, hand-built by Mary Jane and Bill Nuyen, and enjoyed by family and friends for decades, still holds echoes of laughter and love. The property’s original stone fireplace and barbecue structure, crafted by the family, remain as timeless reminders of those who came before.
William T. Nuyen, Mary Jane’s son, had a dream of creating something special on this land. Although he didn’t build his home here, he did create a beautiful pond, now one of the best fishing spots on the lake. His vision for the property lives on through the careful development guided by renowned landscape architect Larry Harris, who ensured that the natural surroundings were preserved.
Today, the legacy continues with new homes built by the Nuyen family, including the house where William’s son and daughter-in-law, Patricia, now reside. Their daughters and grandchildren also live on the property, making this a true family haven.
